/ About the project
Weyay is a digital banking app built for the National Bank of Kuwait. The ambition wasn't just to create another banking app—it was to build something that felt modern, premium and enjoyable to use. Motion played a big part in achieving that.
I was responsible for creating the app's entire motion system from scratch. Instead of designing animations one by one, I established a set of motion principles that defined how every part of the app should move. This included custom easing curves, animation timing and reusable motion patterns that gave the product a consistent feel from one screen to the next.
Once the foundations were in place, I created animations for screen transitions, micro-interactions, success screens and icons, making sure every interaction felt smooth, responsive and purposeful. The goal wasn't to add animation for the sake of it, but to help users understand what was happening while giving the app a more polished and premium personality.
To make implementation as straightforward as possible, every animation was delivered as an optimised Lottie file. I also created detailed motion documentation that explained how the motion system worked, including timing, easing and implementation guidelines, so developers could build new features while maintaining the same animation language.
As development progressed, I worked closely with engineers to solve technical challenges, particularly around Lottie rendering on Android. Some animations behaved differently across platforms, so I debugged and refined the files until the motion was consistent on iOS, Android and web.
The result was a scalable motion system that became part of the product itself—not only improving the overall user experience, but also giving both designers and developers a clear framework for creating future features with the same level of quality and consistency.
